The purpose is to offer a program on English grammar and writing. This may include some teacher training sessions on best teaching and learning practices.

2. What is the English Program?

The Program, Room to Read and Write, has been customized by Canadian educators, Dr. Otto Toews and Ms. Joan McCreath, for students whose first language in other than English. The Program includes training sessions for the local teachers which is provide online through VoIP.

3. What content management system is used?

WordPress which is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. It is a very popular blog publishing application and content management system. Word Press users include Martha Stewart, CNN and EBay.

4. What avenues are used to spread the word?

The following online avenues are available

5. Who collects the funds?

The funds are collected through St. John’s Presbyterian Church charitable tax number. The church is located at

251 Bannerman Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2W 0T8.

6. Who manages the funds?

The St. John’s Presbyterian Churchwire the funds to  a bank account in Malaysia which has been set up exclusively for the Room to Read and Write Program. A member of the church administers the funds.

7. Who provides secure online transactions to process the donations online?

CanadaHelps which is a public charitable foundation (896568417RR0001). It is Canada’s only donation portal that provides access to all of Canada’s 80,000 charities, from national organizations like national cancer charities to smaller groups like local animal shelters and soup kitchens. 8. What makes Room to Read and Write compelling to Donors?

10. Who issues the tax receipts?

CanadaHelps issues the tax receipts based on the charitable tax number of  St. John’s Presbyterian Church.

11. Who owns Homes to Heal web blog?

Dr. Otto Toews, Vancouver, BC. No fees are paid to the owner for creating and managing the web blog.

12. What fees are retained from the donations?

The only fee deducted from the donations is 3% charged by CanadaHelps for providing secure online transactions.

13. Is an annual financial report available to all donors?

St. John’s Presbyterian Church will provide annual financial reports.
