Writing – Rough Draft

Rough Draft

Notes

It is important for writers to read their rough drafts as if they were readers approaching the text for the first time. Readers expect to find the main idea in the first sentence, followed by sub-ideas and related details. The concluding sentence summarizes the main idea in the text.

Readers also expect information text to be objective, that is, written in third person. This means replacing any first person pronouns (I, we, us) and second person pronouns (you, yours) with third person pronouns (it, they). These changes make a text reader friendly.
