Writing - 5 W’s

5 W’s

Notes

Writers need to provide readers with as many clues as possible about the meaning of a paragraph. The 5 W’s are a familiar set of clues that can be used to write about many different topics. Keep these 5 W’s in mind as you write:

– Who is involved?

– What is it about?

– When did it take place?

– Where did it take place?

– Why is it important or interesting?

Remember, pick one ‘W’ as your main idea. You do not have to use every ‘W’ in a paragraph.

Assignment

Write two paragraphs of about 6 sentences each. Use the 5 W’s to organize your paragraph.
