Notes

A reader’s draft is easier to read than a rough draft because the information and ideas are organized. In the reader’s draft, the main idea usually is found in the first sentence. The supporting information is related to the main idea. Readers can depend on the organization of a paragraph to help them read it faster and more accurately. The text no longer is informal – no words like ‘I’, ‘we’ or ‘you’ are used. The text has been written with readers in mind.

The Guitar

The guitar is a hand-held stringed musical instrument. The wooden body of the guitar is like a box with a flat front and bottom and is hollow inside. It is the shape of a figure eight. There is a round hole on the front of the guitar called the sound hole. A long piece of wood called the fingerboard is attached to the body. Raised ridges, called frets are spaced along the fingerboard. Nylon or steel strings stretch across the sound hole from the top of the fingerboard. The strings are held in place by the bridge near the sound hole and the tuning pegs, which are at the top end of the fingerboard. Musicians play the guitar by pressing the strings against the frets with one hand and strumming with the other hand.
